The SD2S drive system from SIEB & MEYER can best be described as powerful, flexible and keenly priced. The compact dimensions make it possible to save space in the electrical cabinet.
Linear motors, rotary servo motors, high-pole-count torque motors or synchronous/asynchronous machining spindles with or without sensors – the SD2S easily copes with all of these drive concepts. Analogue signals (+/- 10V), pulse/direction signals, CAN-bus or Profibus signals/protocols are used to interface with the higher-level controls. Alternatively, an interface to a CNC control via the SERVOLINK 4 bus system is also possible. SIEB & MEYER offers a SERVOLINK 4 PCI card for PC-based control arrangements. The optical link used for this ensures reliable CNC and amplifier interaction.
Universal encoder interface
The SD2S offers the possibility of using most popular measurement systems for rotary and linear motors that are available in the market. The SD2S drive system can operate systems in combination with absolute encoders with an EnDat, Hiperface or SSI interface, magneto resistors, incremental encoders, Hall sensors, linear Hall sensors, linear measurement systems with 1 Vss or TTL output and resolvers.
The integral start-up safety allows achievement of safety category 4 according to EN 945-1. This minimises system costs as the number of external safety circuits can be reduced. The system complies with the requirements of SIL 3 EN 61508.
