During the 2014-2015 season, a team fielded by Hockey Club Asten-Someren played in the sub-top class for the first time in many years. The team, Girls C1, was sponsored by VHE. Effort and sportsmanship were the girls’ main weapons as they fought to win each match right up to the last minute based on quality and teamwork.
The girls started out as a group of friends playing hockey in the F team at a young age. Even though a new team was formed each year, the key players remained the same. As a result, the players collaborate effortlessly with each other on the pitch. A good atmosphere, with the ultimate goal of playing hockey and winning as a team. The team has already won many titles, of which the South Netherlands Championship for Girls D1 in the 2013-2014 season is their most prestigious performance to date. After an exciting match, they beat the favourites, Oranje Zwart, in the final shoot-outs.
At the start of the season, the team had to overcome setbacks in the form of persistent injuries. Players from the second team joined the line-up. Passionate players, who unexpectedly had to complete at sub-top level. Games were lost, but the drive to win remained. In the second half of the season, the team’s fortunes changed for the better and the players’ efforts were rewarded with a third place in the sub-top class. An outstanding performance!
The team will start this season in the first class, B1. Once again, the team faces the challenge of delivering outstanding sporting performance through effort, quality and collaboration. VHE will also sponsor the team again during the 2015-2016 season. So spectators at hockey pitches throughout the region will again be able to enjoy “Success in motion”!
